Doveheart is a dual-type Fairy/Flying Pokémon.

It is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon.

Biology

Physiology

Doveheart is a Pokémon based on a dove. They have tails and crests that are styled after hearts. It has a mostly-white body with a small curl beneath the wings, similar to Togekiss. Their bellies, crests, and most of their tails are either pink or blue, depending on their gender.

Gender Differences

Male Doveheart are colored blue in various places on their body, while female Doveheart are shaded pink on those areas instead. The females also originally had a smaller tail than the male, but not so in the current Version.

Special Abilities

Doveheart's most notable feature is that it has the power to calm aggressive feelings with its heavenly song. In areas of war, peacemakers may bring flocks of Doveheart to calm the fighting parties. Doveheart also has a slight power over infatuation, being able to strengthen bonds of love and weaken hateful feelings. If both a male and a female Doveheart appear at one time, mortal enemies will become life-long allies.

Behavior

Doveheart is a very shy species, preferring not to fight. Seeing one will calm even the tensest situations. It crafts nests in the top of tall trees, which it decorates with shiny objects to attract mates. If they cannot win over a mate, they will instead begin a chorus of beautiful tones. This is usually less effective than the nest, but it can occasionally work. Doveheart are common as household pets, as they can calm sibling rivalries and eat very little. If both a male and a female Doveheart appear at one time, mortal enemies become life-long allies.

Habitat

Doveheart are found in Headbutt Trees in the Mossy Forest, in Dullfern Forest, in Blackleaf Woods and on Routes 14, 15, 16 and 19. You can also receive a Shiny Doveheart from Password Pat. The password required is LOVE.

Shiny Coloration Differences

For Shiny Male Doveheart, the blue turns yellow, while the white body gains some yellow saturation, and the beak also turns yellow. Meanwhile, for Shiny Female Doveheart, the pink turns a mint green, while the white body gains some yellow saturation and the beak also turns yellow, just like the Males.

Trivia

  • Doveheart was originally a Normal/Flying-type. This is likely due to the fact that the earliest beta versions of this game were released before the addition of the Fairy-type.
  • Doveheart's Hidden ability was Wonder Skin in the demo.
  • Prior to Version 1.0.1, Doveheart uses Spinarak's cry.

Origin

Doveheart is based off of doves. Doves are birds usually associated with weddings, thus explaining the other half of their names. They might also be a reference to lovebirds, due to their ability to calm and even bring peace between people.

Name Origin

Doveheart derives from the words Dove and heart.
