Salaslam is a dual-type Water/Poison Pokémon.

It evolves from Salanip starting at level 36. It is the final form of Salatad. It can Mega Evolve into Mega Salaslam using the Salaslamite.

Biology[]

Physiology[]

Salaslam is a bipedal amphibious Pokémon, much like its previous Evolution Salanip, but fiercer and more powerful. It has a cyan body with a white underbelly and muzzle with a diamond-shaped purple gem on its chest. Its arms are cyan with white palms and three purple claws and a purple spike on the back of each of its wrists. Its legs are black which end in thin legs with three purple toes each, with a spike protruding from each of its thighs. It has green eyes with black pupils, and two large white and black fins on its head. It also has a long cyan tail with two large white dorsal fins.

Mega Evolution[]

When Salaslam Mega Evolves, its skin color changes to a grayish-blue, and the spikes on its thighs and wrists grow longer and sharper. The fins on Salaslam's head also grow larger and change shape. There is also an extra stripe at its chest and it shows an angry facial expression.

Special Abilities[]

Salaslam have much more poison in their bodies than their previous Evolutions, which allow them to use much more powerful Poison attacks, which they excrete through their mouths and skin. Their aquatic nature allows them to use many strong Water attacks while also allowing them to dive under water for a long amount of time. Their powerful arms and tail allow them to powerfully slug their prey.

Behavior[]

Salaslam can be very aggressive Pokémon, but are normally harmless to things that stroll past, unless they may see them as a threat. If they do, they will be slugged by Salaslam's powerful arms and tail. They live on land, like Salanip, but do occasionally go underwater to find food and to care for their young. Salaslam also excrete toxins through its mouth and skin.

Habitat[]

Salaslam live in wetland and marshy areas, where there is enough water and land for them to live. There are no Wild Salaslam, however, so you must Evolve a Salanip to obtain one.

Shiny Coloration Differences[]

For Shiny Salaslam, the cyan turns a darker shade of blue, the eyes turn yellow, the purple turns pinkish-purple, and the white gains some light yellow saturation.

Meanwhile, for Shiny Mega Salaslam, it's pretty much the same as non-mega Shiny Salaslam, except the pinkish-purple turns a toxic green instead.

Trivia[]

  • Salaslam carries the same pose in all of its sprites.
    • Its old designs also had a toxic green chest crystal and toxic green claws and toes, just like Shiny Mega Salaslam does. They also looked a bit like Smaqua's old design. Also, its old Mega Sprite had a deep purple body, a deep purple colored v-shaped pattern at its lower belly, it had black spikes all along its back, the rest of its belly, its neck and its lower jawline were a very pale light blue, it didn't have a purple diamond-shaped crystal at its chest, and its eyes were also purple, and they had a somewhat bright blue ring around each one. Additionally, the purple for its eyes, toe and hand claws, and wrists were a slightly darker shade compared to that of its current design.
  • Mega Salaslam has the highest Base Attack Stat of all Poison-type Pokémon in Rikoto.
  • The Salatad Evolutionary line shares a few traits with Mudkip's Evolutionary line, in which both are Water-types that have fins on their heads and tails, and that both gain a secondary Typing when they Evolve into their Stage 1 Evolutions.
  • Prior to Version 1.0.1, Salaslam uses Blastoise's cry.
