Trivia

  • Werehide is the only known Pokémon of this fanmade generation to have a base stat total of 491.
  • Werehide appears to be visually similar to Mightyena.
  • It and it's pre evolution are the only Pure Dark Types in the game

Origin

Werehide is based on a Werewolf.

Werehide and Beopup could also be a reference to Lycan lore, where werewolves sometimes kidnapped prey and made them join their family... or when werewolves abducted women and had 'wolf-children' with them, hybrids of human and wolf blood able to change back and forth. This is also strongly suggested with how Beopup evolves at night with a razor claw.

It may also take inspiration from Arcanine and Lycanroc.

Name origin

Werehide's name comes from werewolf and hide. This may be a reference to how Beopup evolves at night, and that Werehide has a considerably thicker amount of fluff and fur than its prevolved form.

Werehide's Japanese name comes from hanta (hunter) and Gekko (having to do with the moon), along with part of the word 'Gekkouga', Greninja's Japanese name. Interestingly enough, Greninja and Werehide are both quick Dark types (base Speed over 100), and also final evolved forms.
